P2 Consulting
At The PMO Conference

We’re excited to announce our sponsorship of this year’s PMO Conference which takes place on 13 June in Central London. Now in its fifth year, this is the leading event for PMO practitioners from across the UK.

P2 Consulting Director Adam Skinner will be taking to the stage, and speaking about how you can transform your PMO – the #Agile way. We’ll also be hosting a session that will provide you with a greater understanding of the different forms of insightful analytics available, and how to understand which approach is right for your organisation. You’ll also have the chance to visit the P2 stand to hear all about our latest PMO solutions.

This one day conference is all about learning more about the profession and features a full programme of PMO expert speakers, a dedicated PMO exhibition full of PMO products and services and the opportunity to network with contacts.

Full details of both P2 Consulting sessions can be seen below.

Transforming your PMO – the Agile Way!
Adam Skinner, Director, P2 Consulting | 15.50 – 16.40

The best PMOs are continually looking to improve the value they provide to their organisation however beyond ‘manage your maturity transformation like a project’ there is very little guidance to help shape and steer this activity. In this session Adam will:

  • Argue that transforming a PMO heavily lends itself to a methodology based on Agile principles and;
  • Walks you through his preferred approach – with worked examples, tools and templates and a deep dive into the steps and stages.

Whatever type of PMO you’re looking to build – build it the Agile Way!

Takeaways:

  • A methodology to allow the application of agile principles to PMO (and indeed any ‘Office’) maturity transformation
  • Practical takeaways – examples, tools and templates to get you started.

What are the three things you’re most looking forward to about The PMO Conference?

I really enjoy the PMO Conference – it’s a great day to learn about new things, play with some of the new systems on the market and catch-up with old friends. If I had to list 3 things I’m looking forward to it would be:

  1. Presenting on P2’s new agile methodology for improving the PMO. This will be the first time I’ve shared it with a large audience so I’m looking forward to seeing how it lands and getting all the feedback and new ideas that comes from sharing with an informed and interested community of PMO Practitioners
  2. Hearing Ralf Finchett’s presentation on the digital PMO. I’ve known Ralf  since we built a PMO together many years ago, he’s a great speaker and always thought-provoking and it’ll be great to catch-up
  3. And finally, in a spectacular example of bad planning, 13th June also happens to be my wife’s due date… so the third thing I am really really hoping for is to be able to get through my presentation before having to rush to the hospital.

Assuming I’m not at the hospital do come and see me on the P2 Consulting Stand and we can talk all things PMO.

Tomorrow’s status update today – planning your PMO’s route to insightful analytics

Analytics and AI are hot topics in the world of Project Management and PMOs – and the value they potentially offer is huge. But for most organisations having the standardised data, tools and capability to use some of these tools is at best a 2 year journey and at worst an unachievable pipedream. But it doesn’t have to be.

P2 Consulting works with a range of organisations to map out their analytics journey to help them understand both how to improve their data maturity and what analytics can be applied at each maturity level. Critically they work hard to create a maturity journey that ensures continual small improvements in data quality unlocks increasingly higher value insights and analytics capability – create a virtuous circle of data improvements and insights.

In this session P2 Consulting will walk you through the stages of that data maturity journey and show you how they build and drive that journey to help your organisation achieve tomorrow’s statuses today.

Takeaways:

  • An understanding of the different forms of insightful analytics available to the PMO, Programme or Portfolio manager
  • How to understand which analytics approaches are right for your organisation and when to use them
  • How to map out and deliver the analytics journey that ensures small improvements in data deliver big improvements in data analytics value.

What are the three things you’re most looking forward to about The PMO Conference?

I look forward to this event every year as it provides the best opportunity to share knowledge, skills and behaviours with my fellow professionals. This year’s event promises to be one of the best to date (and no, that’s not because I’m on the programme!), there are some exciting speakers all coming together to discuss and debate the key trends and insights driving the PMO today. Here are the three things I’m looking forward to most about next week’s event:

  1. Presenting with Doug on planning your PMO’s route to insightful analytics – we hope delegates will find this a captivating topic what with the trend of AI/Machine Learning coming into the PMO toolkit
  2. The PMO exhibition is a great platform to discover the latest solutions driving change and there’s always an air of excitement around the hall. If you do get the chance come along and visit the P2 guys on stand number five to hear about the exciting solutions we’re driving…and maybe get a free pen or something similar!
  3. The conference lands the same day as our company Summer Social – a boat cruise on the Thames. So I’m looking forward to having a couple of drinks, celebrating a great conference while cruising down the river!

And Doug…

  1. As a self-confessed PMO junky I’m really looking forward to being in a room full of like-minded individuals
  2. We’re in the business of change and yet the way we deliver change has arguably never been changing faster itself. It’s like changing the wheels on a car whilst during 70mph on the motorway. Means there’s a lot to talk about!
  3. Always enjoy time out of a busy working life to think about some of the bigger issues facing our profession.
Come and visit us on stand number 5

Come and visit the P2 Consulting stand to hear about all our PMO Solutions including P2 PMO+: The future of change control, our Significant Milestone Register and P2 Adaptive Delivery. We’ll be adding a taster of all three here so please come back soon.
