What will your role be?

As a member of the P2 consulting community, you will deliver consulting solutions to support a breadth of client needs. This includes supporting client bids, the development of solutions to enhance the Company’s services, and the mobilisation of client facing projects.

As a member of the Continuous Testing & Assurance Practice you will more specifically support the delivery of business solutions to meet the needs of our clients. Our client base is UK-wide and we require our Consultants to have the flexibility to work across the UK.


What responsibilities will you have?

As a Management Consultant at P2 Consulting, you will be engaging in the full spectrum of consulting activities including but not limited to the following:

• Engage with P2 Consulting and client staff to provide the very highest levels of value and service
• Ensure compliance with P2 Consulting Assure – our engagement methodology – created to get projects off the ground rapidly and ensure they deliver with certainty
• Proactive engagement with immediate project team members, and wider consulting teams, to facilitate effective team working, create collaborative outcomes and support knowledge sharing
• Support effective governance and risk management practices, ensuring key issues are managed or escalated, as appropriate
• Provision of reporting and analysis, as needed
• Contribute to business development, solution development, and the creation of proposals and associated marketing to support client and prospective client requirements
• Active involvement in the renewal of their engagement on assignments
• Contributing to the creation of collateral, the development of services, and associated marketing to enhance the capabilities of the Consulting Practice
• Proactively embrace assessment and development processes to ensure the maintenance and enhancement of skills, knowledge, experience, professional insights, and competencies that underpin consulting value.
• Taking an active role in networking, P2 Consulting ‘Connect’ events, and the personal and professional development opportunities.

As a member of the Continued Testing & Assurance practice, specific role responsibilities of the Test Manager will flex depending on client needs.

Responsibilities will include a potential combination of:

• Test lead for quality assurance and functional/non-functional testing across different frameworks (waterfall, agile, DevOps)
• Identify the scope of testing required for a release and/or project on the requirements documentation
• Review of requirements, design specifications to support the development of test strategies, test plans and scenarios
• Analyse test coverage and results against functional/non-functional requirements
• Develop the master test plan for review and approval by the test manager, project team and key stakeholders
• Identify the test resource structure, skills and experience required to support the release or project
• Manage the test team effectively through test planning, design and execution activities
• Communicate effectively with the test team, project resource, suppliers and business stakeholders
• Monitor progress against plan across test preparation and test execution activities
• Maintain the test tools across functional and non-functional testing
• Management of the test environment(s) to support test execution
• Lead the quality gate process, including entry and exit criteria
• Leadership of the test team through functional, automation and performance test execution and capturing evidence
• Analyse test results to ensure data integrity and accuracy
• Delivery of test reports and metrics to confirm progress to project team and senior stakeholders
• Delivery of test completion reports to confirm test status, residual tasks, defects and risks/issues
• Management of risks and issues, including escalations where required
• Implement and maintain progress meetings to ensure testing is being delivered effectively, efficiently and to high quality standards
• Interacting with external and internal stakeholders as required on defining/improving test case coverage
• Support identification and pursuit of sales and business development opportunities
• Develop strong long-term client relationships
• Provide IT focus and insight towards testing solutions
• Support test maturity assessments against industry best practice (TMMi).


You will need to be able to demonstrate a fit to the following profile:

Education and Training

• A record of continuous professional development
• Ideally degree level, within a technology or business discipline
• A commitment to continue to develop both personally and professionally
• Relevant professional qualifications (such as International Software Testing Qualifications Board – BCS ISTQB® – or the equivalent gained through practical experience)

You will have experience of the following:

Essential Experience

• Consultancy experience
• Experience across the quality assurance and testing lifecycle, including industry standard techniques and tools
• Management of test teams across functional/non-functional testing
• Worked within a multi-supplier project environment
• A growing specialism in an area aligned to the services of P2 Consulting.

Test Lead Experience

• Ideally, the candidate should have 5+ years plus experience of a test/development environment, or a technical support environment
• Experience of the full software project lifecycle (waterfall, agile, DevOps)
• Ideally experience in financial services, business change and/or digital industries
• Track record of successful project delivery
• Extensive experience with various test techniques to support test programmes
• Experience of building strong relationships with clients
• Proven experience of managing successful teams, managing deliverables on time and within budget
• Capability of operating with senior level executives and adept at stakeholder management
• Excellent communication skills
• Good problem solving and analytical skills.
