What makes P2 Consulting’s Academy stand out?

How many graduates can say that they had a casual one on one coffee with the CEO of the company they work for? I am lucky enough to have had this opportunity at P2 Consulting.

I joined in September 2018, straight after finishing my masters at King’s College. I knew from previous professional experiences that I wanted to get into a management consultancy and P2 Consulting immediately caught my eye when I started my job search. It seemed to be a very dynamic consultancy that had an attractive portfolio of clients, delivered a range of exciting and diverse assignments and most important of all, had a successful consulting Academy.

I was aware that P2 had a lot of exciting opportunities for graduates, but little did I know that my expectations would be exceeded just three months in. P2 has a plethora of blue-chip clients and fascinating assignments, but what really makes a difference is that I find myself learning and growing in the most welcoming and stimulating professional environment a graduate could hope for.

A striking feature of P2 Consulting is how approachable everyone is at all levels no matter whether they are in the Academy, a Senior Consultant or as I mentioned earlier, the CEO. Not only did P2’s CEO take some time in his busy schedule to have coffee with me but also with the four other Academy members that I started with. As far as I am aware none of the friends I went to university with and who are now employed in a graduate scheme have had this opportunity. Not only did it allow me to get a better understanding of what P2 is trying to achieve as a business but it also made me feel part of the company.


Combination of core learning and practical experience

The Academy, like any good graduate scheme offers a comprehensive 2-year learning programme that encompasses of a combination of core learning (professional qualifications such as Prince 2, Agile, business analysis and the ISTQB), practical experience on client’s site and mentoring, and development around our competencies and behaviours. Whilst undertaking professional qualifications and learning on client’s site is something that a lot of graduate schemes offer, what makes the Academy such a good place to start a career is the quality of the mentoring that is provided.

Every academy member is closely followed by the head of the Academy, a Career Manager and an Assignment Manager that all regularly communicate to make sure that I can make the most of their mentoring. Andy, the Head of the Academy regularly checks in and always wishes us good luck before we take a qualification exam. Ose, my Career Manager, set-up a regular catch-up and never fails to provide insightful consulting and project management tips. The Academy programme is all about learning and developing into the best consultant I can be. Myself and my peers within the Academy have really found that the friendly, positive and stimulating environment put in place by P2 absolutely feeds down to all its employees.
