The Challenge

Being a leading entertainment company with over 21 million customers across Europe, our client undertook a transformation project to:

  • Centralise its digital operations into a new facility in Leeds; and
  • Implement new agile ways of working across its product and technology areas.

In addition, it set out to align the internal digital product estate with the best practices used for its customer-facing digital product offerings, deliver a new employee app, create an overarching strategy for the digital products and launch a new corporate website.

The Solution

We worked with the client to establish leading practice agile processes, select a product roadmap planning tool and develop a standard model for reporting thus aligning product development to business objectives. As well as this, the team provided business assurance around the monthly roadmap reporting.

P2 Consulting led the stream of work responsible for gathering requirements, liaising with the business and trialling communications tools to facilitate more efficient ways of working across the organisation’s national and international operations. We developed the strategy and business case for the internal digital estate, working collaboratively with various areas’ stakeholders across the business.

In totality we operated as the product owner for the Employee app and Corporate website.

Client Benefits

The above solution brought numerous benefits for the client that are still evident to this day:

  • Improved clarity for stakeholders and digital delivery teams through standardisation and implementation of agile and governance processes.
  • Developed organisational capability around using the planning tool, saving on average half a day per product area to produce PowerPoint roadmaps each month.
  • Improved communications as we delivered two video conferencing options, along with Apple TV and streaming solutions to support daily standups, retrospectives and ceremonials along with general team collaborations
  • Developed investment scenarios for the internal estate across three tranches of investment (£500k, £750k and £1m) that allowed the business to optimise their investment based on value and priorities
  • Put in place the approach to realise and track efficiency savings based on code reuse
  • Defined the minimum viable product for the client’s new employee app
